About Us

My name is Shreya Nippani, and I am a junior at New England Innovation Academy.

I've been volunteering at a long-term nursing facility since my freshman year, and have formed close and loving bonds with many of the residents.

Conversations were the foundation of our relationship, and it made me wish that each person had someone to talk to, so they can feel seen and valued. That's when I created Stay Awhile: the modern pen pal so to speak.

This created a means of communication, and allowed connections to form between members of our community instantaneously. The world is full of hustle and bustle, but taking 5 minutes of your day to write a letter is truly rewarding. I hope those who participate in this feel the impact they've made on a person.

Our Mission

Stay Awhile's mission is to foster profound human communications for the elderly and the greater community to nurture wholesome connections, reduce elderly loneliness, and create a widespread positive impact.

Our goal is to build two-way long-lasting connections to cultivate intergenerational relationships that promote kindness and understanding. We aim to expand this project to not only impact the recipients but also the individuals who compose these heartfelt letters.
